Yogi Not Welcomed in Germany

Yogi (and other misbehaving bears) beware. 171 years after the last bear was killed in Bavaria, Germany, Bruno, a "misbehaving" stray met his fate as well. You can read the Washington Post Article here.

In a nutshell:
Bruno forced Bavaria's hand because he failed to show enough respect for humans.

The last straw was when Bruno stood up on his hind legs and snarled at 3 overly curious hikers.

German officials said they weren't opposed to bears in principle, only misbehaving ones.

Picture a round table of German officials demanding that any bears must respect humans and behave or they will be put to death. I guess they want them dressed in a hat and tie, walking on their hind legs and carrying a brief case. Maybe if Bruno had just kept to Yogi's routine of Picnic Baskets and ranger antics instead of bee hives and guinea pigs.

Does Germany treat their visitors the same way?

Does Germany treat visitors similarly? - Well maybe if you're a hooligan come for the World Cup's England game.

I found it kinda funny when i heard that on the radio.. Oh well, germany. I mean, bears are way too dangerous! They kill.. sheep! WTF! ;)

I like my country though. :)

Not so funny if you really think about it.

Figure a 250 pound bear, capable of running at up to 30mph and climbing trees, loving to kill 80 pound sheep just for the fun of it, and showing an aggressive behaviour toward humans. Would you rather wait for someone to get disemboweled, or just shoot the bear?

Think about it? About what? The way I see it, a bear has as much right to live as a sheep or (even) a human.

So by your logic, it's OK to kill people who fish or hunt for pleasure? I /would/ actually be less concerned by that since humans have a choice, as opposed to bears.

Let's shoot all lions in Africa! After all, they kill those poor little antilopes and don't even think twice about it!

Anyone who thinks bears or other wild animals should be behaving conform to HUMAN rules and ethics is a total nutcase.

**The way I see it, a bear has as much right to live as a sheep or (even) a human.**

Yes, but humans take precedence when there's a danger to one or the other. It's called 'The Food Chain', and I enjoy our position at it's top.

If you don't and would let the bear kill a human because it's got 'as much right to live', than *you're* a nutcase.

To keep with the essence of the 'as much right to live' statement--I guess tomatoes have just as much right to live as humans, and aren't we all just barbarians if we rip those peaceful plants out of the ground, slice them up with sharp knives and (gasp) chew them up!

Monsters, those humans.
